MANKATO 鈥撀The Minnesota Soybean Growers Association (MSGA) strongly supports Rep. Angie Craig to serve as the lead Democrat on the House Agriculture Committee.
鈥淪ince she was elected to Congress in 2018, we have developed a strong working relationship with Congresswoman Craig,鈥 MSGA President Darin Johnson said. 鈥淪he understands how much agriculture matters to our economy, environment and national security, and we greatly appreciate that Rep. Craig is never afraid to reach across the aisle to find working solutions for producers.鈥
Rep. Craig, who was reelected in November to represent Minnesota鈥檚 2nd Congressional District, has been a stalwart ally of agriculture throughout her three terms in Congress. Congresswoman Craig has a record of putting partisan politics aside to promote policies that benefit farmers, including strengthening rural America鈥檚 connections to federal programs and resources, advocating for a new Farm Bill and supporting the biodiesel tax credit. Her consistent advocacy for higher blends of biofuels earned Craig the title of 鈥淏iofuels Bulldog鈥 by USDA Sec. Tom Vilsack.
鈥淎ngie Craig is a model for the kind of representative Minnesota needs in the U.S. House,鈥 said MSGA Director Bob Worth, who served as president from 2022-2024. 鈥淪he is on the side of farmers.鈥
In 2023, she introduced the Farmers First Act, which would reauthorize the Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Network (FRSAN) and ensure rural communities have access to certified community behavioral health clinics, critical access hospitals and rural health centers.
鈥淩ep. Craig has shown time and time again that she鈥檚 willing to take the lead on farm-related issues,鈥 Johnson said, 鈥渁nd with the status of the Farm Bill in limbo, her leadership on the House Ag Committee is more critical than ever as we head into 2025.鈥
Earlier this year, MSGA awarded Rep. Craig, along with her GOP colleague Brad Finstad, the inaugural Spirit of MSGA Award to recognize her proactive efforts in supporting farm-friendly policies.
鈥淲e think she鈥檚 a fantastic candidate to serve in this role and would be a strong voice for not only Minnesota farmers, but growers across the country,鈥 MSGA Executive Director Joe Smentek said. 鈥淐ongresswoman Craig鈥檚 knack for successfully working with both parties makes her an ideal leader on the Ag Committee.”
